There are a lot of traditional holidays all around the world, for example, St. Patricks Day in United Kingdom, Hanukkah in Israel. In Belarus we also have traditional holidays, some of them we still remember and celebrate. One of the most loved and celebrated traditional holiday is Kupalle. It is celebrated in the night from 6 to 7 July. Celebration of this holidays includes a variety of rituals and symbols. Years ago girls went to the meadows to collects flowers and herbs, some of them they used as a cure, some of them they used in wreaths worn on the head during this holiday. The central symbol of Kupalle is a fire, which symbolizes life. People prepare old things to burn in this fire. The ritual fire usually took place in a meadow, a forest glade or on a river bank. The oiled wooden wheel also would be set on fire to symbolize sun. People celebrated this holiday till the morning - they jumped over the fire, bathed in a river, rolled in a grass due. On of the good sign of the night for couple was to find a blooming fern flower. Traditional food for this holiday was fried eggs, kulaha and vareniki.
