Найти употребление Past Simple в тексте. Vitus Bering Kamchatka State University (KamGU Vitus Bering) is one of the leading universities among the other educational institutions in the town. It is the first higher educational institution in the region. It has its history. It was founded as an institute on the base of Teachers' Training School. The first one hundred students began their classes on the 17th of October in 1958. The first building was in Naberezhnaya Street. The first faculties were the faculty of physics and mathematics and the faculty of the Russian language and literature. In 2000 Teachers' Training Institute received the status of the university. Nowadays it trains not only teachers for primary and secondary schools but other specialists for the Kamchatka region. It occupies three academic buildings. Two of them are situated in Pogranichnaya Street, the third one – in Lenin Street. The buildings are not very comfortable and some equipment is out-of-date. But in general there are good conditions for our studies in the University. We have two reading-rooms, a library, a number of subject rooms, specialized laboratories, a gym-hall and a canteen. According to the amount of books our library takes the second place after the Public library. Our reading-rooms are well-equipped. The library of our university has Internet which helps students in their work. The stuff of the University includes qualified specialists. Our university has a variety of faculties. They are: the faculty of physics and mathematics, the faculty of psychology and pedagogy, the faculty of philology and intercultural communication, the faculty of supplementary education and the faculty of vocational training. Each faculty comprises different departments of day-time, extramural and evening forms of education, for example the faculty of vocational training has the department of law and organization of social welfare. Each academic year includes two terms and lasts 10 months. There are two vacations a year. Every term is ended with oral or written credit-tests and examinations. The general course of studies lasts several years. The curriculum is based on general, special, optional subjects and specialized training which are compulsory. Among general subjects there is English, history, mathematics, physical training and others. Special subjects depend on a faculty and a department. Senior students have optional subjects and vocational training. During the practice students get the opportunity to develop their professional abilities. Our University is a state institution, but there are commercial groups, so education is free and paid. Some students receive scholarship. Student's life combines studies with public duties. Some students take part in sport competitions, in the work of sections, stage concerts and do other useful work. In spite of all problems students live their full and interesting students’ life. All undergraduates who complete their studies, pass final exams and carry out independent research works receive diplomas. Graduates have the right to receive further education, to get Bachelor's degrees and then enter the post-graduate courses and devote themselves to scientific work.
