Sergei Korolev(1907-1966) is a rocket engineer and designer, he is sometimes called "Father of the space programme." He graduated from the Kiev Polytechnic Institute, and the Bauman Moscow Higner Technical School. He also studied in the Moscow Pilot School and got the Pilot Certificate. He directed the design, construction, testing and lauching of the Vostok, Voskhod, and Soyuz spacecraft. He published a book "A rocket flight in stratosphera in 1934. His great contribution was that he prepared and took part in the launch of the first Earth satellite (sputnik) in the world in 4th of October in 1957. He is widely known as the man, who prepared the first manned space flight in history when Yuri Gagarin's spaceсraft orbited the Earth and came back successfully in 12 of April in 1961. And he prepared the "Voskhod-2" spaceсraft flight, when A. Leonov made the first space walk in history in 1965. He got the title "Hero of Labour" two time in 1956 and in 1961, the Lenin Prize in 1971, three times the Order of Lenin. In his honor the street in Moscow is named after him, a city in the Moscow region and crates on the Moon and on Mars
