The air that we breathe becomes polluted because cars, factories and power stations emit toxic fumes. The pollution is gathered in clouds and when it rains, pollution lands everywhere. This is called acid rain. When acid rain falls into lakes, streams, rivers and seas, they become toxic. Water pollution kills fish and plant species, also it poisons trees and plants, because it flows through the soil. Governments have been trying to reduce air pollution. We also can reduce the amount of acid rain by using cars less or using solar power to heat our homes.
